Our Story

We built Loopy’s from scratch, starting with nothing but a food truck and a dream. In the beginning, we struggled to even make $100 in daily sales. At one point, I was so desperate that I walked around, handing out free samples just to get people to try our food. One of my earliest memories is walking into a nearby tattoo shop next to the empty lot where we started. Inside, I found a group of tough motorcycle gang members. I was intimidated, unsure if I had walked into a dangerous situation. But, to my surprise, they tried our food—and became our first regular customers.

Slowly but surely, word of mouth spread, and we began to find better venues. Our loyal following grew, and by 2020, we had saved enough to open our first brick-and-mortar restaurant. Everything seemed to be falling into place... until Covid-19 hit. What should have been Loopy’s big breakout moment turned into a nightmare. The restaurant faced tremendous challenges to stay afloat, but we pushed through by relying on our food truck experience. It became a true “mom-and-pop” operation, with just my wife and me running the entire show.

Amid the chaos, we raised our three kids in the restaurant, building our loyal customer base one person at a time. In 2023, we made the decision to sell both the food truck and restaurant and move back to New York City, where we had originally come from. Our goal was to open a new restaurant in Manhattan. It feels like we’re starting from scratch once again, fighting against the odds. And we’re learning that in a city as vast as NYC, if you don’t have a big advertising budget, a mom-and-pop restaurant like ours can easily get lost in the crowd.
